the unscripted video that turned a youtuber into a mentor

A friend of mine has a large YouTube channel with around 200k subscribers.

For years now, he's been feeding the algorithm with tutorials, how-to’s, etc.

The typical stuff people are searching for.

The almighty algorithm loves this, and as a result, his channel has blown up.

These tactical videos barely scratch the surface of what he has to offer.

So, a while back, he created a high-ticket mentorship program for those who want to go deeper.

But there was a problem:

His audience didn't see him as the high-value mentor that he is.

So when he tried to sell them his mentorship, many people didn't see the value in it...

and instead they kept asking the low-level, low-value, tactical questions instead of the bigger-picture, higher-value stuff they actually needed help with.

In their minds, he was the guy who makes little tutorials and how-to videos...

Because that’s exactly what he’d been doing for years.

They didn't see him as the guy who would help them completely shift their life and career for the better.

But, finally, last week, he decided to make a change.

Instead of another weekly tutorial or "hack" video, he shared something from the heart.

No script, no cuts, no edits...

Just a raw, 15-minute video where he spilled his guts to those who would listen.

It was a vulnerable move, and he saw it as a risk.

Right after he posted the video, the comments started rolling in:

  • "I really feel this"
  • "Keep telling your story"
  • "I don’t comment often, but I wanted to tell you how much you inspire me"
  • "I love your courage and honesty"
  • "We just wanna hear your opinions on things"

Wow... how refreshing.

But even if he hadn’t received these validating comments, his audience now has a better idea of the depth of what he has to offer.

The more he shares from the heart, the more people will start seeing him as the wise mentor he is, rather than just the "tactical tutorial guy".

And now, his "sales calls" won’t be sales calls—they’ll be onboarding calls.

People will already know exactly what they’re in for.

Sure, these unedited "from the heart" videos might not get the same views and engagement as what 90% of the market is doing.

But those who do watch and engage will be exactly the people he’s meant to serve.

If your marketing doesn't line up with the value of what you have to offer...

I encourage you to make a shift so you can earn the right position in the mind of your prospect.

Chances are it'll work out in everyone's favor.
