How to build a website for around $100
Last week an old friend reached out asking for help with building a website for a business that he's starting.
He can't afford to hire anyone to do it for him, so I put together a little step by step guide so he could handle it himself.
This is exactly what I'd do if I had little-to-no experience:
Step 1 – Go to Webflow's Template Marketplace
Step 2 – Browse for a template that looks right for your brand AND fits the needs of your company. (I actually have a bunch that I made for sale here, mostly designed for creative folks, but if you see one of mine that you want, reply here with which one and I'll transfer it to you for free 🤫. This one in particular will work for just about anything.)
Step 3 – Create an account if you haven't, and purchase the template.
Step 4 – Edit the content of the website to your liking. (VERY IMPORTANT: If you're not a designer, do yourself a favor and stay within the bounds of the template, and avoid changing anything on the whole panel on the right side of the screen. Please trust me on this one!)
Step 5 – Purchase a Webflow hosting plan based on your needs, connect your domain, and publish the site.
If you get stuck anywhere along the way, check out Webflow University. It's a completely free resource by Webflow that will tell you everything you'd ever need to know.
Or... if you're looking for something more bespoke, and have a budget to work with, feel free to reply here and I can point you in the right direction!
