Ever had a contractor totally bail on you?

Not a great feeling.

Especially if you paid anything upfront.

Here are a few ways to avoid this:

  1. Thoroughly vet them before engaging. Talk to their past clients if you can. Examine reviews / testimonials. Get familiar with their portfolio.
  2. Constantly communicate with them and establish a clear timeline and expectations. Use project milestones for payments.
  3. Build a positive working relationship over time. Show them your appreciation for their work and be flexible with them. This will build mutual respect and will benefit both of you in the long run.

Even when you follow these guidelines, you may still end up with a bad apple.

If that’s the case, the best move is to just cut your losses and keep moving forward.
