Born To Run

Remy Miller, my son, is just over 13 months old. He's learning how to walk.

When he was just a few months old, we would stand him up in our lap, and he would keep his legs straight for a few seconds before crumpling back into a little ball.

Then he started crawling.

Then he started crawling really fast. That's when the baby gates went up.

Soon after, he began pulling himself up with objects around the house – the couch, a chair, the stairs, etc.

Then he started walking side to side while holding onto said objects.

At this point, he would often completely lose his balance and slam into something.

(It also doesn't help that we have concrete floors in our home.)

But the constant body slams haven't stopped him.

As of about a week ago, he can stand up by himself and fearlessly run across the room, with a massive smile on his face while doing so.

He hasn't quite mastered it just yet, but he's getting there!

As business owners, it's easy for us to fall on our asses, get discouraged, and feel like it's time to give up.

But the real killers, the ones who find true success, are the ones who get back up over and over, learning from their body slams and keeping their vision at the forefront.

We can put a lot of pressure on ourselves for every effort to be perfect, but the reality is that's just not how it works.

Success doesn’t happen overnight.

You've got to be willing to boldly try new things and risk getting body slammed regularly.

The body slams will build character, confidence, and wisdom.

The more it happens, the more likely you are to make progress.

And once you cross that next milestone, you'll have a big ole smile on your face ... just like Remy when he's running across the kitchen (likely into his next body slam!)
